Centennial Reflections

by Harry Ebeling

Harry Ebeling served in many roles in the Oakwood Historical Society, including several terms as President. Perhaps his largest contribution came from his research. Born in Oakwood in 1932, he lived in Oakwood all his life, and knew many of the industrial and community leaders personally, and was friends with others who were the first and second generation descendants of many of the "big names" in Oakwood from the turn of the 20th Century.

Harry authored several items documenting the early history of Oakwood, most notably, "The Oakwood Scrapbook," and was uniquely suited to help the 2008 Community celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the incorporation of Oakwood as a Village. He authored a series of articles which appeared in the Oakwood Register in 2008, and we are making them available to you here. Enjoy!

These articles are presented here as they were originally published. As part of our community's historical record, they reflect the research and resources available to the author at that time. As with any historical work, ongoing research and the discovery of new information can refine our understanding of the past. Some details within these articles may not align with the most current scholarship. We encourage readers to view them as part of the historiological record.
