Presented by The Oakwood Historical Society
Trace the history of the early Oakwood farmers and landowners up through the establishment of the Long Homestead in 1863, including the family and their 3 generations of Long and Romspert descendants (as well as boarders) who lived in the house until it was bequeathed to the historical society in 1984. Learn how the house expanded over the years with multiple additions.
This video is a result of a major organization of the society’s archives over the past 3 years, which uncovered new information and new leads for further research. Much of this information is just now organized for release, to fill in gaps in our local history.
