Second Annual Holiday Home Tour Booklet

Our Second Annual Holiday Home Tour highlights 7 historic homes in the Hatcher Hills Neighborhood. The booklet includes pictures and descriptions of these 7 homes, in addition to the Long-Romspert Homestead and House Museum. The history and architecture is described for each home, as well as a section on the Kramer Pleasure Gardens, the Kuntz Lumber Dynasty, and a short biography of Harry Toulmin, first patent attorney for the Wright Brothers. The Hidden Manor Tour

The Hidden Manor Tour features one of Oakwood’s finest and historic homes. This enchanting English Tudor was built in 1927 by Edward Tytus Gardner and his wife Janet. The home eschews the typical half-timbering, stucco and ornamental chimneys typically found in Tudor homes. The home is surrounded by large streams, ponds, deep woods and extensive trails. Learn about the Gardner family who built the home, Ludolph and Francine van der Hoeven who lived in the home from 1971 until 1995, and Alexander and Elizabeth Jump who served as the Gardner’s butler/valet and personal maid.
